The Remake WAS Smart to Combine The Two Female Leads

Gene Tierney is hardly in this movie at all. She really has nothing to do with the movie. The remake isn't as good. It's famously underpar comparably but making Jessica Lange a hybrid of Tierney and the film's real co-star, Googie Withers, was smart because, again, Tierney has almost nothing to do with the movie. A very sad thing since she's... Gene Tierney, a Film Noir icon.

Also, the neighbor guy in this movie means less than zero, but in the novel he's almost as important as Harry. Difficult to explain unless you read it. A very good book. Tierney's character in the book is also important.
