UK or US version to watch first?

I am a first time viewer of this film. Found a used copy at a pawn shop (lucky find as I am a fan of Dassin and it is also Criterion).

As I have never seen it, am I better to watch the UK version or the US version?

Personally, I thought the US version superior. And I saw it before the Criterion.

I saw the US version first as well. Are there enough distinct differences in the UK cut to warrant a re-watch for comparison's sake while the US version is still fresh in my mind?
