I'll bet that most people won't, but I liked it

Today's hardbitten cynic, that is to say, the average contemporary movie goer, will have little trouble poo-pooing this as hokey, "leave it to beaver-ish" or naive, but I found it to be very touching.

James Whitmore carries the day, Nancy Davis, the then, future first lady, was believable and the kid playing their son, Gary Gray, was just fine.

All the story points were by the numbers, but I think that Whitmore was able to make it convincing.

One more rarely seen nugget from the Warners Archive Collection, a number of films that are not so well remembered and that are being dumped onto DVD and onto the marketplace without the usual acoutrements; no fancy menus, no subtitles, no extras, no featurettes, just a decent, unrestored, print of the film. In this case, it's a good quality print and very watchable.

I watched this movie today and thoroughly loved it. Nice simple message that made you feel good at the end without being preachy.

I wish everyone could see this movie but alas, the cynics and the haters would come out of the woodwork to trash it simply because it mentions God. Which is sad because the message of being more loving and counting your blessings is more relevant today than ever.
