Searching....

Is this the movie where Fred MacMurray goes out hunting and brings a cougar home? The wife says something like "But I don't know how to cook a cougar"? If not, can anyone help me out with this? We thought it was "The Egg and I" but it isn't.

It's this movie indeed, if you're still searching. :)

"The Egg and I" is a Fred MacMurray film, but starring with him is another great comedienne Claudette Colbert from 1947. A sort of similar theme is involved with both films, that of city girl finding it rough while roughing it in the country--on a chicken farm in Washington in "The Egg and I" and on a cattle ranch in Colorado in "Never a Dull Moment." When Irene Dunne goes out deer hunting with "the boys" in "Never a Dull Moment," she bags something much bigger and much bigger trouble than a deer or a cougar, and the ranch could be lost as a result, causing a split between her and Fred MacMurray's character.

You are right about the quote for the 1951 "Never a Dull Moment," where Irene Dunne says, "But I don't know how to cook a cougar!" Many great scenes are part of this film, at least to those of us who can appreciate the comedy of being a fish out of water.

Not yet out on DVD, that I can tell, "Never a Dull Moment" evidently has been released on VHS. I hope whatever company has the RKO film library will see fit to release it on DVD soon as it is definitely worth keeping in the family home movie collection!

Good luck in your search for a copy of this entertaining movie.
