Sally Forrest

I've loved Sally Forrest in everything I've seen her in, mostly films that ran on the Late Show years ago, esp. SON OF SINBAD. But few of her films seem to be available anywhere, so quite by chance I pulled the DVD containing MYSTERY STREET off the shelf this morning and watched it and thought it was excellent and thought Ms. Forrest was quite strong in the leading female role, despite it being only her third starring role (after appearing in two indies for Ida Lupino). As I was watching the film, I realized that she was the only recognizable participant in it who was still alive.

So you can imagine my shock when I opened the New York Times right afterwards and turned to the obituary page to find her listed. She died two weeks ago, but the obit only appeared in today's paper (March 29).

Wonderful actress, great dancer and an extraordinary beauty, to boot.

She will always be remembered, at least in this household.
