A Gem

Liked this. Great performances from little Andrew Ray, Finlay Currie, Irene Dunne and particularly Alec Guinness.

My only complaint was the dull subplot between the soldier and Emily: pretty irrelevant to core story about the little boy and the Queen.

Nonetheless, a solid 8/10.

Guinness' speech to Parliament, delivered in one take, was superb.

One of my favorite movies. Saw it first when I was about Wheeler's age and it stuck with me over the years.

I agree over Guinness' speech, a great moment in movies.

The romantic subplot was unneeded and distracting but that is the way movies were made. You got to have girl meets boy, girl looses boy, etc.

Finlay Currie was memorable. He may have been better than the original Brown.
