This guy has only this one film to his credit, playing Angel, but he sure is convincing as a paraplegic. The was he swings his upper body and the way he doesn't use his legs (at all!) make me wonder if he really was a vet and not a professional actor. Thought he did a great job (as did deadpan Webb) plus he was not at all hard to look at to boot!
I thought this was a great movie, and an amazingly candid portrayal of paraplegia, for the time it was made. It seems to have been for vets of the 50's what "Murderball" is to quads of this decade. The characters are disabled but unlike other movies of the time none of them are meant to be inspirational or complacent sufferers. Even movies and TV shows of today don't have characters who are disabled that are meant to be just real, "normal" people. In my mind this makes "The Men" an unparalleled film, for what it was.
