The Custody Issue
Were judges back then really that quick to take children away from their mothers? The main character didn't have a history of abuse or neglect. Today's judges are quite reluctant to take kids away from their parents.
I wondered about that as well but I think it was just a story device ... although the grandmother could've been buttering the judge's palm in some deleted scenes. ;-)
