My many criticisms

I really liked the color, animals and native portrayals but...

How about at least some minimal explanation of who King Solomon was and why the mines are famous (the allusions to Captain Kidd's treasure etc. weren't enough). Or some forensic or additional evidence that the bones in the cave were really Curtis (wedding ring?).

Surely one of the three would have taken a bone of "Curtis" for a proper Christian service and internment later and what about grabbing a souvenir diamond. It's not like there were earthquakes and dirt/dust falling from the ceiling.

Plus the ending was too abrupt. How about wrapping up the love interest or some revenge on the guy who blocked the cavern or showing them all back in England or setting up a sequel with them negotiating a mission back to the mines with Amsterdam diamond merchants or the new chief thanking them with a big dance feast and sending them home with diamonds. But at the very least give us some plausible reasons how they can make it all the way back to the bwana's home without any ammunition or porters.

I'll only address your last "criticism." Didn't you pay attention to the last scene? Umbopa shakes hands with the English folks and bids them farewell as several men, presumably from his village, are walking down the mountain carrying bundles and boxes, many of which I would guess contain precious jewels, food and weapons. Isn't is safe to assume these bearers will travel back to where the trip started?
May I bone your kipper, Mademoiselle?
