Fight in the end between tribal leaders

What in god's name was going on in the fight towards the end when Umbopo and that other african tribe king were fighting? The fight was cut so badly that the guys suddenly appeared on the ground, next minute they're standing up, next minute they have a weapon in their hand they didn't have in the previous sequence. The way those weapons kept appearing in their hands I thought an AK-47 was going to appear in Umbopos hand's next.

I thought it was pretty choppy (no pun intended) too. Maybe all of the original copies of the film were damaged or something. What I liked about it was the premise of having just the two guys fight. "We learned long ago that doing it this way saves many lives and ...." something else. Pretty cool. I could just see Obama and Kim Jung duking it out.

Remember Rabbit Ears with tin foil?

I agree. Very poor editing.

But we have no idea if that's the best footage the editor could do with what he had. It was all filmed on location.

I have this on DVD but I haven't watched it to see if it's a restored version with better flow or if there are some behind the scenes info on the film.

I always thought the end after the fight was rather abrupt and didn't explain much. It was like they ran out of time and had to end the film fast to stay within the time frame they were allowed.

I think the censorship laws of the time might explain why it seemed to be poorly edited.

Its that man again!!

I just watched this on TCM, and the fight scene seems to have been "restored". It lasts several minutes and it's pretty clear what weapons they have and why.

There was another thread here complaining about the same thing.
