Good movie!

Poor Jimmy, falling down the stairs twice in this, geez!!
I don't know why this movie is not as memorable as most of the movies he's made. Funny storyline, great cast, some oh-so serious bits included, overall I enjoyed it.

At least it was successful at the time, here's hoping it'll come to DVD soon!

I liked it, too.

I need to re-watch it because I've not seen it in many years now, though.

One of the MANY Jimmy Stewart films I enjoy!

It was just on FMC (not AMC!) today, after many years' absence. Very enjoyable movie, and underrated. Stewart's centennial is in a few days -- May 20, 2008...where is Fox with a DVD release of this and other missing Stewart films from Fox (e.g., NO HIGHWAY IN THE SKY)?

loved every minute of it! i can't believe it's so underrated.

I am a fan of Jimmy Stewart, and this is one of his great movies. I picked it up at Blockbuster and loved it.

Great laughs, good storyline, and great actors.

I thought it was a lot of fun too. Cool to see Stewart working with a young Natalie Wood, as I never knew they had.

Wonderfully underrated movie. In many respects, I like it more than some of Jimmy's more famous movies, like "Harvey." Beautifully acted by Stewart, as always. Too bad it's so forgotten today.

reply

Yeah very funny and a great Jim Stewart as always.

Just caught this for the first time. The script and staging are a little haphazard and some of the lines fall flat but mostly enjoyable.

Anyone know what this film did at the box office when originally released?

I saw this movie on the Late Show in 1962 when I was junior-high school age. I didn't laugh. If I were to see it now I would want to retitle it "Let's Laugh at the Hapless Victim." 😠
As for the taxes... I guess someone had to pay for Joe McCarthy and all those bombs.
