That huge, infectious smile and laugh

Watched this because I love William Castle, and as others have said, quite a strange movie but I was drawn to Paul Dale. He obviously has charisma with that broad smile and this movie touched me immensely. His story on screen probably paralleled somewhat in real life. Mr. Castle's touches were poignant, I cried a couple of times. I will never forget Mr. Dale's angelic smile and laugh. I even loved the song he sang towards the end. I'll want to watch again. This is why I love old movies, the potential, the sweetness, the messages, the love in which they were made. I also enjoyed Will Geer as his dad, and the sister gets a bad rap, but remember she was bullied also because of her brother and just wanted a normal life. All in all, just a beautiful, beautiful film.
P. S. Fell in love with the character Sam, who's claim to fame was another of my favorite movies, "It's a Wonderful Life."
