Mildred screaming "help! help!" while describing the book to Dix

... was a great setup that could have been mentioned by Laurel to get Dix arrested for the murder. That it wasn't used was sheer brilliant filmmaking: I kept expecting her to suddenly remember the girl screaming "help!" while in Dix's apartment, which was another way of keeping me in suspense. Brilliant device to obscure the story arc!
