Grandma Walton as the White Butterfly McQueen (THERE'S A SPOILER)

Think of it - Ellen Corby is beyond subservient as the cook in Harriet Craig. I saw her name in the credits and thought "Good - her character's going to wipe the floor with Crawford - hello, catfight - can't wait", but I was in for a much better surprise. I even started to wonder what made Grandma Walton so cantankerous in her later years. After Crawford wiped the floor with her, she became a little jaded, let's say, and re-thought her ideas about being nice.

If Ellen Corby wasn't available for the part, Butterfly McQueen would've been perfect, especially in the scene where.....

SPOILER

She brakes a plate and Crawford goes hog wild, ordering her out of the house by sunrise. Then the long time housekeeper hits the road, too. THEN THE SHOWDOWN BEGINS.
