Did everyone catch the line when Durante said something like: "Good thing we saved the bear rug cause I'd sure would have hated to miss the Jimmy Durante Show!" (when Durante was carrying the radio/bear-rug out of the house during the fire)
I thought that was hilarious that they slipped that in there!
It meant a lot to me, and my mom when she saw the movie a year or so before she passed.
Her own mother was an Oregon politician, and headed the War Bond drive in the area. They sent her train tickets and fare to be a guest to plug bonds on the Jimmy Durante Show, and she loved it, she kept on talking about that (and the charming young announcer, Gary Moore,) for the next 40 years.
She was more impressed with that than two trips to the White House for tea with Eleanor Roosevelt, though she was a Republican — which may explain things.
Yes I caught it. It was little things like that that made me love this film
