I really loved this film and the the characters. I liked that it was black and white and that everything happened almost in only one room. It was like seeing a theater play (in a good way).

shareThe play is one of the greatest American stage dramas and this film is quite good though not the perfect film version of it, it's the best filmed one I've seen though! Amanda is a very difficult role to play and too many play her either too sympathetically or too much the nagging hag. Gertrude Lawrence was very good and Jane Wyman was perfection as Laura.
