I think he was the best part. When he walked through the door I nearly died laughing. Anyone else playing Roosevelt might have been sappy but with him it was an extra joke.

Six years earlier, Alexander had played the benignly delusional Teddy Brewster in Arsenic and Old Lace. He is only under the delusion that he is Teddy Roosevelt, and his portrayal is only a little more exaggerated in that film. He steals every scene he is in.
