Resemblance to Dostoyevsky's 'Crime and Punishment'

Does anybody else notice a similarity in "Edge of Doom" to the novel "Crime and Punishment?; particularly in the claustrophobic atmosphere and in the movie's unrelieved gloominess? Anyway I think it is one movie Dostoyevsky himself would have liked. I also sense elements of/influence of "The Brothers Karamazov" with this movie: the criminality, and the lure of religion and the church. It is not just another period "film noir" offering--it is profound, and all involved should have been justly proud of it!

The film reveals something that is well known today & that the church & religion is not always your friend. Hypocritical? By all means but the church is made up & governed by humans. Plus it is a Catholic church & that says a lot when it comes to flaws (only Catholic churches refer to their districts as parishes)
A good film even though a bit of over-reality. Seems no, one has a prayer of things getting any better.
