Dick Layn and His Music

Was the band that backed Van Johnson a group thrown together for this film or was it an actual musical ensemble - as many cinematic backing bands really were? Can anybody identify the musicians or the band?

There are two real musicians that also appear in the vocal group.
Stumpy Brown played trombone and sang in brother Les Brown's band
and Bobby Troup was a popular pianist-vocalist-composer and actor.

Thanks for your rapid reply. As a fan of Jazz and Swing music, I am always on the lookout for new discoveries. Les Brown - I obviously know, but not Bobby Troup. Here I found Troup's persona so demonstrative in the background that I thought it was HIS band, not Van's. For some reason, when they were all on the train, I just latched on to the notion that Van was just a traveler on the train who decided to glom on to the band and sing along with them in the club car! Actually, I always try to look beyond Van Johnson in films, as I find him very hammy.
