Is this a remake of The Criminal Code? Some of the plot seems like it is.

Yes, it is a remake of The Criminal Code. TCM played both of them tonight. I missed most of the Criminal Code so didn't realize Convicted was a remake until the end with the almost verbatim dialogue.
