However, I think that the stepmother is approaching the end of her savings and it's one of the reasons why she is so anxious to see one of her children marry the prince. There seems to be something more urgent and imminent than the chance for a higher status fueling Lady Tremaine's behavior when she demands that her daughters fly out of bed.
