This Could Almost Be A Prequel To Shane

In this movie, Choya comes to regret posing as the long lost son of a family he comes to love. He even says that just once, he'd like to do one decent thing in his life. It's easy to imagine something like this was the mysterious back story of Shane.

Wouldn't surprise me if George Stevens saw 'Branded' and based on Ladd's excellent performance, chose him as 'Shane'.
