What was the alternate ending?

From the trivia section:

The film had two endings. Director Nicholas Ray raised the issue of a director's right to final cut, and at this time the collective contract with directors did not stipulate this right.

Does anyone know what this was?

Also, i'm so annoyed it got taken off youtube, it was up literally about a week ago and I was going to download it onto my computer and now it's not there anymore.

DVD Savant reports that the new Warner Archives DVD-R has both endings. Buy that disc and find out for yourself!

the ending they used was pretty weak.

I saw the alt ending, Christobel gets involved with a doctor and lawyer. She also has a car accident when leaving the mansion, but survives.

The car accident, the doctor and the lawyer were all included in the version that I have just seen, on UK TV Movies4Men channel. Not a bad ending.

I think there's an Eddie Mueller Noir Alley "outro" that discusses the alternative ending.

I could swear it was on YouTube about two weeks ago, and I'm replying to your post ten years later!
