good story but great history captured on film

just as "here comes the navy" (1934), which is set upon the ill-fated ships USS Arizona (battleship) and USS Macon (airship), here is a film that rises above entertainment and becomes documentation.

so watch it for the actors, watch it for the story, watch it for the important history it captures -- or just plain watch it!

I think the historical context of this film ... which is outstanding ... is the only thing the film has going for it. Films about life in Berlin after the war are few while films about the Berlin Airlift are pretty much nonexistent. This film deserves a remake for sure.
