Why did he leave the nitro in the safe?

It's not as if it exploded or anything. Was it a calling card? I don't get it.

I want the doctor to take your picture so I can look at you from inside as well.

On the one hand, it may be kind of "calling card". On the other hand, and more importantly I think, it would be an unnecessary risk to carry it with them during the escape, IMHO.

reply

I've always wondered about that myself. I agree, it was probably too dangerous to take with them (and unnecessary anyway), so he just left it as a sort of teasing "calling card". Remember the smirk on Louie's face after he put it there? Just a jab at the cops. Plus he probably wouldn't have minded if the police had blown themselves up removing it!

reply

Just realized something: if Louie had had that little flask of "the soup" on him when he was accidentally shot by the watchman's gun, he could easily have triggered it when he hit the deck. Instant massive explosion. Everybody dead. End of film, roll credits. lol

reply

Or imagine if the bullet had struck the vial right off! Good thought, Eric.

But no end credits yet. I want to see the reactions of Gus, Cobby, and especially Emmerich and Brannom. Shock and disappointment (and Cobby's out 30Gs), but they probably all escape undetected.

reply

Exactly. While on the surface, it seems a bit odd that he'd leave it there, they no longer needed it, it's highly volatile and as long as there is nothing incriminating it makes sense to just leave it behind.

reply

Leaving it there for practical reasons, like not wanting to get blown up, is a good catch. When I first saw it, my reaction was, "oh good. This will slow down the police. Now they'll have to call a disposal unit or bomb specialists."

Watta ya lookn here for?
