Terrifying

This version of Alice in Wonderland terrified me as a child!! The talking puppets, the scary little girl (not very pretty, sorry Carol), I didn't sleep for a week. I can't remember for certain- but is this also the version where the dragon comes out from the looking glass once Alice gets home and attacks her? This may be another version- Alice Through the Looking Glass perhaps. Nonetheless, I do not remember it fondly.

I know what you mean. Although I enjoy the movie now I'm really glad I didn't see it as a young child. It has a slightly sinister quality to it and the puppets are a bit creepy - I probably would have been terrified.

The version with the Jabberwocky is Through the Looking Glass. That's much less scary.

I have the tape! My dad got it for me when I was 10. It was weird.

I'll give him 20 more minutes-and that's it!- Airplane!

Totally agree - except I will have to add that maybe Carroll never intended his characters and "Wonderland" to be "child-appropriate."

Knowing the mindset of the Victorian Age, I would venture to say that children back then were "meant to be seen - and terrorized - and NOT heard."

"Don't call me 'mac'... HONEY!"

Pretty sure you are thinking of the 1985 version staring Natalie Gregory although I dont get where you get "scary" from her. Or ugly. Shes cute as a button. But yes in that version a guy in an inflatable suit plays the jaberwocky who comes through the mirror to attack Alice who screams a lot and gets to dance with Sammy Davis Jr.
