The Falsettos

The Three Haircuts bounced out onto the stage, sang a song, and then Mike Haircut announced the next song was going to be something new and different. The band played a brassy two bar intro: Dah dah dah dah dah dah, da da da da da da WHOMP! Then Mike (Sid) started to sing like a falsetto chicken. The audience went nuts. Obviously they'd never heard anything so crazy and funny. Within a year, Little Richard was singing like that and, I guess, nobody watching Sid Caesar do it after that would have found it funny. So, who really did it first? Did Sid Caesar actually invent this cliché of early rock and roll?
