I know the OP was asking this 17 years ago, but just thought I'd let you know it's been released on Blu-ray since 2013 (in the U.S.) and has been available (in a dual BD/DVD release) in the UK, since 2018 (both releases are region free)

Thanks for looking that up, when I first bought a Blu-ray player I went and sold most of my DVD's thinking I'd replace them all with new shiny Blu-ray discs, yet there are still many classic films yet to be released on Blu-ray, especially from this era.

reply

Yeah, I know what you mean.....I'm still waiting for 'Angels With Dirty Faces' and 'The Roaring Twenties' to hit Blu-ray.
I'll also like to add, that both 'white Heat' and 'The Public Enemy' look great in HD (if that's any incentive?)
In fact, all my 'black & white' Blu-rays look great ('the original 'Twilight Zone' episodes look amazing on BD) There seems to be more and more older titles (primarily 'film-Noir') getting released all the time now. Keep an eye on sites like www.blu-ray.com for regular updates, reviews and release dates (if you haven't already?)

reply

Yeah me too, I had those on DVD along with The Public Enemy and White Heat in a James Cagney collection box.

I'd buy Each Dawn I Die, The Fighting 69th, 13 Rue Madeleine and G Men too!

reply

Ouch!
