Just watched it last night. Here's my 2 favorite lines.
When they are hiding out in the cabin after the tunnel heist, one of the gang comes in to tell Cagney he heard on the radio that a storm is coming.
Cagney says "I told you to stay away from the radio! If that battery is dead, it's going to have company!!"
Favorite Line #2, when Verna complains her radio isn't working.
Cagney replies "What do you want? Unemployment insurnace for it?"
This was the first Cagney movie I watched. He is terrific!!
Cody shoots Big Ed to death at the top of the stairs. Then he sees the other gang members watching from the first floor. Cody kicks the body down the stairs and yells, "Catch!"

Later when Parker (who had previously tried to kill Cody on orders from Big Ed) asks Cody "why me Cody, what do you want with me?" Cody responds "You're my pal, I'm taking you with me."
Good old Hollywood at its best.
Verna - "Cody ain't human. You fill him full of lead and he still keeps comin at ya."
I can only assume she has witnessed this type of incident in the past. heh heh

When Cagney(Cody) asks Verna where his mother is, Verna replies to Cagney in a sarcastic tone, "She went out to get strawberries for her boy." Cagney(Jody) knocks her flat.
Cagney(Jody) "No, Ma, You're hunches are never wrong."
Looks like your plan didn't work out after all, pardo.

After Jarrett finds out that Parker set him up for a fatal accident, he runs into Parker, who is visibly nervous:
Jarrett: "Whatsa matter Parker? I'm not going to do anything."
The he says in a lower voice, dripping with menace:
"Not now. I'll wait til I'm ready; good and ready, then I'll pay ya back."
Cagney was a great actor who could pack a lot of energy into low key moments.

Remember the scene fairly early in the movie just after the train heist. Zuckie was in agony with his face swathed in bandages when Cody and the gang were going to make their getaway. Zuckie’s pal Cotton asked Cody “Did you mean what you said about sending a doctor to take care of Zuckie?” Cody replied “Sure. I’ll send him a Specialist. You. Go back in there and make it easy for him.”
