badly needs restoration

Seems there are 2 single disc releases of this film, one by Miracle and one by Alpha. They're both from the same source (there's a jump splice in the scene at about 30 minutes in when Barbara Payton opens a beer and hands it to Lloyd Bridges--it's identical in both releases).

I give slight edge to the Alpha though, for two reasons: 1) the Alpha seems to have at least cleaned-up the audio a little bit and removed some of the static crackle in the Miracle release, and 2) the cover art for the Alpha looks like it's from an actual release or still from the film, whereas the Miracle has an atrocious cover with Bridges from a much later time when he's about 30 or 40 years older than he was in Trapped.

This is a tight, brisk little crime drama noir, and I sure hope it's on somebody's "To Do" list for restoration at some future point. Unless that occurs, I think the only other possibility of seeing this film from a decent source is if it gets shown on Turner Classic because their copies usually look pretty good.

it's a great movie, and I agree that it needs to be restored.

The smaller studios on lesser budgets were still using nitrate film in 1949, so most of the surviving prints were likely bad and they likely culled the best one available
