Would have loved to have seen this in 1949....

I think modern viewers of flicks like this fail to appreciate them more because they automatically mentally compare them to flicks of today.

I was very pleasantly surprised by this movie and though some of the dialog must have really been ahead of its time back in 49.

I'm watching this now. The scene about 32 minutes in at MacArthur Park is interesting to me because I live across the street from the park, you can see the building I live in (the Asbury) in the shots where Jane is on a bridge staring at the paddle boats. The park is divided by Wilshire Boulevard, the northern part was drained years ago and turned in to soccer fields. It used to be a really tough area, lots of drug deals and gang bangers but the city and LAPD have done a good job cleaning it up. Unfortunately, they got rid of the paddle boats a few years ago.

Thanks for the update. I'm familiar with MacArthur Park myself but haven't been around there in ages. I drove past it about three years ago on my way to the L.A. Courthouse but the traffic is so bad there that I didn't have time to take a good look.

It was good to see the lake in the movie.

I fell in the lake as a kid in the 1950's.

Did you happen to bump into Alan Palmer's corpse??

Some good lines in this flick.....best one was when she asks Danny if she should just call him stupid...his response: "you can....if you bruise easily"...

LOL
