Any Good Quality Print Available??

I just watched this movie last night and although great, the quality was awful. it was murky, muddy, dark and skipped. From what I've read online there doesn't seem to be any good copies floating around, but I was wondering if anyone can recommend the best available DVD version?? Thanks

I agree that the movie was great. The DVD source material was abysmal though, I had to crank the brighness up to high to see what was going on, which kinda defeats the 'noir effect'. There were missing frames and the audio was pretty poor and dropped out a few times, subtitles would have been nice at least for the parts that the audio was lost. All in all, I'm glad that we have what's left of this neat gem of a movie.

More screenings of the restored noir will follow during the year at the NOIR CITY satellite festivals and on the international film festival circuit.

Maybe a DVD print will ensue?

Does anybody know anything about the DVD release of the restored print? This is such a great noir!

They're showing the restored print this week at the TCM Film Festival, and I bet the DVD or blu-ray can't be far behind.

Great! Thanks for the info!

This movie is included in 100 Greatest Mystery Classics that were being sold by Wal-Mart for $15. It's on amazon.com now for $28 - http://www.amazon.com/Greatest-Mystery-Classics-Movies-Disc/dp/B0088JGQCQ/ref=sr_1_1?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1433037945&sr=1-1&keywords=100+greatest+mystery+classics

TLFT is scheduled for a showing on Turner Classics July 17th at 8pm. That whole day on there is filled with screenings of Film Noirs, and because TLFT has the prime 8pm time slot, I very much have the feeling that they'll be running the restored version of this classic.

People believe what they want to believe. One term for this is Faith. Another is Delusion.

Yes, it's definitely the restored version that premieres today on TCM. Lucky you who can enjoy the best copy available!

As others have mentioned TCM premiered a restored copy earlier tonight and it looked great. Every Friday in June and July TCM has shown film noir from early in the morning until early the next morning.

I have been enjoying the hell out of it and TLFT has been one of several noirs I have never seen until this summer.
