Noir City to show restored version

Will be watching this on a double bill with The Hitch Hiker directed by Ida Lupino at the Noir City festival in San Francisco this weekend. It is a bitter little world.

"The great Johnny Rocco, with Nora's spittle hanging from his face."

Dang it !! I read your post quickly and got myself excited over what I thought might be a new pay channel like Netflix etc called "Noir City " LOL !! Oh well. Maybe someone will
pick up on the idea though !! TCM used to be my go to Noir channel but since the newer 'folks' have taken over, Noir is far and few in between. And they typically just repeat the same movies over and over until ya start getting sick of your one time favorites.
Fingers crossed.

There are some decent noir's streaming on amazon, netflix and of course youtube, but you are right, there are so many that are not readily viewable, or are terrible prints. Incidentally I'll be attending the San Francisco Noir City festival again this year - (1)Deception 1946 with Bette Davis, Claude Rains and Paul Henreid; (2) Humoresque 1946 with Joan Crawford and John Garfield. The cool thing about the Film Noir Foundation (FNF)is they work with AFI, USC film school, Martin Scorsese and others to find and restore noir treasures thought to be lost or severely damaged on acetate film. They often premier these restored films - which is pretty exciting. Occasionally they trot out a star to share memories, etc. Eddie Muller - the founder and president of the FNF is an unsung hero.

I am watching the un-restored version and the quality is quite poor and it spoils the whole experience. It looks like an early taped TV show.I would love to see the restored version
