Good noir but character's weren't fully utilized..

This movie had a lot going for it. Great story of vengeance going on with multiple side stories and angles set up with great characters played by great actors/actresses, but on top of it all I can't help feel that the characters weren't fully utilized by the movie's end. I take it the filming was rushed?

Didn't like the cheap conclusion to the Garcos/Figlia story that the entire basis for the film existed on. And I don't really get how Garcos could really be so satisfied with the outcome? I mean, his pops lost his legs because of the guy and all it takes is getting his crops money's worth and a little doing over with the fists and that's it? And then the cop sticks his head in with the "leave that business to the force, buddy" remark. Wow, lame. And how does he so quickly change fiances on the fly? LOL... maybe I need to rewatch it but that seemed highly unrealistic to me. The only story that felt complete and satisfying was the Ed/Slob/Pete trio.

It's just annoying to me because I love what I've seen of Dassin so far, The Night and the City is one of my favorites and I felt this could've ranked right up there with only a few tweaks here and there with everything that the movie had going for it. Ahhh, I guess they all can't be perfect.

RetardoArona-gone but not forgotten. Nvr4get. Send me your thoughts on this unjust tragedy.

agree, the ending is a little rushed, but still a great film.
