Bugs Bunny connection

The "music-hater" opera star Giovanni Jones, who Bugs as "Leopold" puts through the wringer in "Long Haired Hare," is a clear copy of Thomas Gomez' pompous tenor Vitelli in this film. His henchman's accidental conducting of Iturbi's pit orchestra also lends a gesture or two to the WB classic. The cartoon shop not only parodied company lot stereotypes, but sometimes made companion pieces to current releases. Both were made in 1949, and this certainly must be one of those pairings.

Another good observation you made, Comatus....wouldn't mind if you would write some more on the forums.

Actually, "That Midnight Kiss" was made by MGM, not Warner Brothers, so it wouldn't have been paired with a Bugs Bunny cartoon. "That Midnight Kiss" was hugely popular at the time, so it would be no surprise that Warner Brothers would have parodied it in a cartoon.

That's what I thought too but when I scanned through the films of Thomas Gomez, I didn't see any Looney Tunes connection.
