Robert young
Robert young was laughably bad as Bosinny. From his hair to his silly personality. It was unbelievable that radiant Greer Garson would fall in live with him.
sharePart of the problem with the studio system was having to play whatever you are cast to play. I think the real problem is that Mr. Young is not "young" enough for the part. Bosinney is supposedly 30ish and Mr. Young is 42 .Although he is my favorite actor, he was not right for this role.

However, I agree with both of you that at 42, he was much too old to play the young swain lover of Janet Leigh who was about half his age at the time of filming.
Actually, he was even two years older than Errol Flynn! So really bad cast management all around.
