Hey, isn't that Danny Kaye sitting behind...

...Kelly and Sinatra in the first train scene? About seven minutes in?

Nope, not him but I hope the guy got the job as Danny Kaye's double! He sure does look a whole lot like him, you've got a good eye. When I saw your note and went back to look for Kaye, Joi Lansing was indeed the blonde who took a seat in the back, as imdb cast list said. I'd wondered how I could've missed her -- if you're too young for the old Bob Cummings Show on early TV, she was a typical mega-blonde-bombshell. But always kind of endearing anyhow.
I find this movie kind kind of sadly lacking somehow, even with all the great credits, the musical numbers seem really forced, not the super-happy-fun one almost always gets from Gene Kelly, and MGM musicals. Too bad, all the trimmings are there, it's just not first rate material. I guess "there was no joy in Mudville..." aww...

I thought the same thing when I saw it for the first time. I then checked "Danny Kaye" on imdb.com to see if he is put as an uncredited extra but I was wrong.

I was just surfing the boards for movies I like and I found this one, turned around to go to that scene, and it was already on!!Wow...

"Hey,Cos,do something!Call me a Cab!"
"Okay,you're a cab."

I started reading this post just as that scene came on TCM.

Yep, a definite Danny Kaye look-alike.

reply

I thought it was Danny Kaye, too. It can't be a coincidence.

It's not like Danny, Gene and Frank hated each other. Why couldn't Danny been walk through the studio and just stopped bye to say hi. IMDB is not 100% corect folks.

reply

IMDB claims it is Danny Kaye, but it's not. Very good look alike, though.
