great movie

I just watched this for the first time with my 8 year old daughter and thought it was great. I even thought it was better than the most recent version. What a good family movie!

It's the best version, I want to buy it... It was on TCM this morning. It's a rare film and hardly ever shown. I definitely want to buy the DVD if I can find it. It's much better than the more recent version, although I LOVE John Lynch in it... I actually do like the more recent version, but I like this version BETTER...

I saw this on television when I was a child of about 10, the same age as Mary. I didn't see the technicolor sequences until about 10 years ago. I was very blessed to actually meet Margaret O'Brien 3 years ago and tell her this was my favorite film of hers and she admitted it to be among her very favorite roles. She said it held a "special place in her heart". A great and gracious lady.

The movie has a great story that is blessed with the wonderful acting of Margaret O'Brien. She was born to play Mary. I was caught when I watched her on TCM.

It is a great family movie. One that is easy to get lost in. So much love yet so much unhappiness. Herbert Lom was awesome as Mr. Cravens and the story told is timeless about an sad little boy.

I watched this last night and really enjoyed it. A smart, clever, well paced, entertaining film with good performances from every actor.

I caught about the last 2/3's of this film on TCM and I can't believe it isn't heralded more. I've only heard of it while reading bio's or trivia about other projects. The young actors carry the story wonderfully well.
