For fans of tiny unimportant details, the second professor whom Daniel Gélin visits in order to get funding for his expedition is re-dubbed by Robert Dalban (at least it sounds almost exactly like him), the great character actor of these years. He is also the actor who dubbed Clark Gable for the French version of Gone With The Wind.
It's one of those fun little moments you have when watching movies of this period, and recognizing all those great character actors.
Mmmh… They sound very close to each other, it's true. But Dalban's voice is lower pitched.
This way of talking, with a rather distinct Parisian accent, is common in French movies of this era.

It is lower pitched, but mainly in his later movies. He was still young at the time and it matches rather closely the voice work he did at the time. The giveaways are the nasal tones of the voice, as well as the sound "-s" (almost sounding like -sh). I may be wrong, but I really jumped out of my seat when I heard it ("Big Stick" is one of my favorite actors).
