Oer yon chevy chase

OK, so I just saw this today and I was pretty sure that that was what they said, but I checked and they said it. However, I wasn't sure what it was he's speaking of. Obviously, it can't be the actor.

After doing some research, Chevy Chase, real name Cornelius Crane Chase, was nicknamed "Chevy" by his grandmother. This was most likely from The Ballad of Chevy Chase (http://www.contemplator.com/child/chevych.html), which recounts a battle that supposedly took place at a place called "Chevy Chase," and apparently, Chevy Chase's ancestor fought at this battle. While this battle may or may not have actually happened, the ballad entered culture, so Bugs was probably referencing this ballad, or many of the other things named "Chevy Chase" after the ballad.

I caught that too. The only other reference to Chevy Chase is a town in Maryland perhaps it was a shout out to a home town by a loony tune writer.
