Miss Em's house


does anyone know if miss em's house was an actual house or was it a studio set? if it was a real house, what house was used?

Considering the time-period, which it was filmed, its production company (20th Century Fox), it was most likely filmed in a studio on the one of the lots.

I also assumed it was filmed on a lot although with that long shot in the beginning (Pinky walking from the train to her home) I did think it had to be an awfully big lot.

It looked similar to the house used in Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte.

It was a lot at universal studios. They did a great job on it but you can tell just in how well the shots all lined up. It has that wizard of oz feel to it. I can tell just by looking at how small the trees are but they did such a good job that you don't really pay much attention. If they kept the lens closer to the actors you'd probably never know it was all a set, but they liked showing off their hard work. Films done on locations like that tend to have actors from those locations with real accents too.
