Interesting Pimlico incident in post-war London

A recent BBC doc on post-war Britain listed an incident in London that had certain parallels with PtoP. Due to the great housing shortage, many homeless families occupied empty business premises in London's Kensington High Street. The authorities, not wishing to storm the buildings, decided to impose a state of siege on the hundreds of squatters. Ordinary Londoners smuggled food to the squatters in images redolent of the transfer of food to the Burgundians - with newsreel footage of food being thrown over fences and through open windows. A fascinating bit of British social history that I knew nothing about.
