tube stations

Two of the scenes in the film take place in Bishopsgate and Park Street tube stations.

Do either of these stations still exist?

reply

No - it seems that neither ever existed !! There was an overground station at Bishopsgate but this closed nearly a century ago long before the film was made.
Both scenes are obviously filmed in actual stations so it remains a mystery as to why they went to the expense of changing the names shown , especially as they are not central to the storyline.

There's not much "expense" to putting a fake name over an existing sign! Both scenes were shot on the Central line platforms at Bank station, with minimal set-dressing, by the look of it.

The reason for the fictional names was obviously to simply mark them out as different locations, "Bishopsgate" for the solictor's office, and "Park Street" for the Justins' house (there is a Park Street in Mayfair).

Both of the station names are fictional and the scenes are shot on the same studio set (from different directions), not a real station, which is why we do not actually see a train running into the "station" other than the fairly obvious model shot.
