Because she fell in love with Orpheus.

Put very crudely....She wasnt Death, she was Orphee's death....small d....she was just an employee of the underworld who breached the terms of her employment contract.

Are you sure? I thought she was Cegeste's death. She breached her terms of her contract when fell in love with Orphee and killed Euridyce so she could have Orphee for herself.

At the end of the movie she says "We had to return them to their swamp." And since she was already punished for falling in love with orphee and killing Euridyce I thought that she might be arrested for reversing time.

Yes, she was arrested for reversing time which was violating the rules. Remember she was not allowed to act on her own accord or wishes but was always supposed to follow the prescribed course of events.

Actually it was Heurtebise who made the statement about returning them "to their mire," and he was equally guilty. The Princess had already been punished for loving Orpheus, But the act of reversing time -- essentially giving Orpheus another chance at a happy life -- was a major crime, for which she and Heurtebise were condemned forever, probably to Hell
