GENE KELLY AND ANN MILLER

A number of posters on this board have commented that Gabey should have been paired off with Claire, and there were never any dance sequences with Gene Kelly and Ann Miller in any MGM musical.
Well, I believe there are two reasons for that:
1) Ann Miller was taller than Gene Kelly, which would have looked awkward if they danced together.
2) Miller was essentially a solo performer who rarely had need of a partner.
In fact, the only man she ever danced with was Fred Astaire in EASTER PARADE, and that was ballroom, not tap.
