Favorite moments?

I love the "Come Up to My Place" number, and all the random lines like " Dr. Kinsey, I presume?" Also, Lucy Schmeeler I find really fun.

I'll drink to that.

The entire sequence of "Prehistoric Man," and the stunning tap dancing of sexy Ann Miller.

reply

I agree - every time I watch this movie, I replay this scene with the sound cranked up at least 3 or 4 times

reply

Any scene with Alice Pearce or Ann Miller, especially Prehistoric Man.

reply

I love "Come up to My Place", "Find Me a Primitive Man" , "On the Town", and every moment Alice Pearce is onscreen.

reply

Not to be a bitch, but the song is called "Prehistoric Man".

And Yes the "Come up to My Place" Number is hilarious. i saw a special on Leonard Bernsteinf once, and Mabdy Patinkin and Donna Murphu did that song. They were a riot together.

Isn't is divine? Jungle Red!

reply

OK, sorry. but you knew what number I meant. I saw the stage version of ON THE TOWN on PBS several years ago and Tyne Daly did "Come Up to My Place." I don't remember who was playing Chip.

reply

Yeah...that came off as a wee bit diva, I didn't mean to be mean.

I think they should revive On the Town, like now lol.

Any scene with Frank Sinatra and Betty Garrett in it. They had great chemistry and great comic timing as a pair, his naive innocent character against her boisterous and robust character is a hillarious juxtaposition.

reply

I LOVE "Prehistoric Man"; it's my favorite number in the movie. Honestly now, what person, kid or adult, wouldn't want to romp around a stuffy natural history museum, playing with the ancient artifacts? I love the witty--and racy--lyrics, and Ann's great dancing, but mostly, I love it 'cause it's just plain FUN.

reply

I love Come Up to My Place, the funny bond between Sinatra and Betty Garrett and Ann Miller's dancing but the song that really tops it for me is Count On Me!

Certainly one of my new favourite musicals!

reply

I love the entire movie (Its my favorite musical and Top 3 movie) but my favorite moments are You Can Count Me and You're Awful.

reply

I love Ann Miller's song & dance "Prehistoric Man"! WOW - she's electrifying!!
If I were casting the movie, I would have Jules paired with the cabby (Betty), Frank with Vera-Ellen (Ivy) and Gene Kelly with Ann Miller (and have those two in several dance numbers!!!)

reply

One of my favorite moments within "Prehistoric Man" is the look on Gene's face when Ann sings the "bear skin" double entendre. ;O)

reply

This is my favorite movie ever! I can watch it 200000000 times. My top 3 favorite moments is: 3. the begining of the movie (new york new york), 2. you can count on me and 1. the whole empire state scene... I love it!

I know the look on his face was so funny and cute and Frank is leaning on him and puts his head down. Cute.

"Farewell Ethel Barrymore, I must tear myself from your side" *rip*

I know right. I am so disappointed that Ann Miller never got to partner up with Gene Kelly. Imagine how spectacular the tap dancing would be. How do you think it would turn out looking? Ann is pretty damn fast! lol. If she were doing one of her fast tap dancing numbers with Gene who would have to keep up with who? lol.

At the start, as they meet the two sailors coming back to the ship.

"Tom, Andy, How was your day in New York?"

"Wonderful, I don't remember a thing"

"Awful, I remember EVERYTHING"

Having been on both sides of that equation, I can really relate to this.

Of course, most of the music was great ("New York, New York", the Taxi ride, "You can count on me", cruising the clubs, etc). I guess I like the whole thing!!

reply

Count On Me - loved it! Love Alice Pearce. I wish and hope she can see how loved she is.

Whadda ya hear, whadda ya say!

reply

I love when they first get to NY and Frank says, "yeah, we never been here before!" with this heavy East Coast accent! I just thought that was kinda funny.

reply

The entire museum sequence. Anne Miller and Jules Munschin are my favorite couple in the film.

reply

I love the entire movie start to finish way too many favorite moments 😂

The new bluray whilst not perfect is a step up from the DVD & makes the movei look better.

reply

Any scene with Betty Garrett. Love it when they're at the first club and they bring her a beer, which was mostly foam, and she says it was just what she wanted, a mug of solid glass.
