Watch the commentary on the Criterion Edition

When I first watched Stray Dog I enjoyed the film but it was not one of my favorite Kurosawa movies. After I watched the commentary and was able to place the film in its historical context I really learned to love it. I especially enjoyed learning about the Japanese black market and how Kurosawa was able to capture it on film before it disappeared. The commentary also had a nice bit about the status of returning soldiers in Japanese society.
