I'm Seeing Green!!

Did anyone notice all of the kelly green in the costuming, and accessories in this film?

Green is my absolute favorite color, and I enjoyed immensely seeing it all over the place!

I wonder if someone connected with the production of this picture loved
the color green. Anyone out there know any trivia?!

My fav was the color block outfit Eve Arden wore - the black top and the green green pants. I love how they WORE clothes in those days! None of this low rider on the hips bs.....a waist is a waist and it's made for a waistband or a nice belt!

Yes, Milo Anderson was a wonderful, albeit unsung hero of costume design. Helen Rose, Adrian, and Orry Kelly got a lot of well-deserved publicity for their designs, but Milo's approach was thoughtful, almost psychological.

Look at the way he used color to define character & personality in Doris Day's first two movies: In "Romance on the High Seas", most of Doris' costumes when she was impersonating Janis Paige's character were white/aqua/blue pastels and prints. In this film, she's quite a different person, with jewel tones; the Kelly green in particular is vibrant without overwhelming Doris' delicate coloring.

The most over-rated Hollywood costume "designer" of all was Edith Head. She was an untalented, self-promoting hack who couldn't even draw a sketch. She would meet with producers, directors, and stars, absorb what they wanted, and then went back to her office, where she dictated those ideas to an army of sketch artists.

The most dominant colors in all of the golden age Warner films were red and green.

I never noticed that, but thanks for pointing it out. I'll be more alert for that trend while watching films in the future!
