the radio at the old place

The radio at the "old place", was that radio actually manufactured and sold to the public or was it custom made for the movie?

The best I could gather it was a typical mid 1920s model. The loudspeaker system came out around 1924. Before then one listened with headphones. Around 1929 speakers were incorporated into the radio itself in both console and table models.
In addition radios of that time had separate knobs for the stations. Instead of turning one knob to dial in, say, a station on 1620, you turned one for 1000, another for 600, etc. By the late '20s the there was one knob to dial in a station as on modern radios.
