Adolf Ruth, DVM

Dr. Ruth was a very prominent and popular D.C. veterinarian. My father's family grew up in Falls Church and took their dogs to him. My dad knew a lot of the stories about the mines and one of the guys he worked with was an Apache and a fellow electrical engineer. They were working for the Dept. of the Air Force doing the electric stuff for base housing. Papa loved western history and his pal, Mr. Teller, a Chirachahua, was also a talented painter. My mother loved collies and he did a gorgeous oil painting of a collie for her - even made the frame. He was a really nice man. He was familiar with the stories about the Lost Dutchman and how the Apaches tried to keep the miners out. The Superstitions were believed to be the home of the " thunder god " and the area was known for its violent thunder storms.
